Week One Optional Activity: "Create a Blog!"

It is wonderful to have, so far, 68 educators and experts with different levels of experience in the field of ESL/ESP from all over the globe, enthusiastically interacting with one another, sharing ideas, opinions, and experiences on teaching and learning various types of ESP in ESL/EFL a week or so before the session has officially started!

This blog has been created to give you an idea of how blogs could be used for teaching and learning. Some of you might be interested in creating their own blogs. Here are two examples:

  1. You could use your blog as your e-Portfolio.You can select your favorite topics or activities included in the six weeks and then post your answers to your blog.
  2. Another example is that you could use your blog to present your ideas on a new program that you wish to design, and then invite all of us to post our comments or feedback on your blog.
  3. You could be more creative and think of other ways to use your blog, during this session.

Finally, I'd like to inform you that I'm going to run a hands-on activity on how to create your Weblog,
on Thursday, January 20, 2005, at 13:30 GMT. To see what time is this in your place, please click on the World Clock .

We are going to meet synchronously, i.e. in real life time, at http://tappedin.org/tappedin/ ,a free text-chat supported site for teachers and students from all over the world. You could access the site as a "Guest", which will bring you to Reception area.

Should you have any question on any of the above information, please post it to this blog. You could do that by clicking on "Comment" that is shown on the right hand side below this entry.

Looking forward to hearing
from you, :-)

Best regards,

Buth

Lilian and Mio from our ESL2ESP session have joined me today at Tapped In for our Hands-on activity session, "Create a Blog". Both Lilian and Mio were so cooperative and fast learners. We nmanaged to create blogs and learned how to edit posts.

The three of us have agreed to meet again to learn more about ways to use Blogs for our ESP in EFL students. The date, time, and place will be announced later in Week 2.

Thanks to Mio and Lilian for making it a successful learning experience, for the three of us.

Cheers!

Dear workshop,

Buth invited me to join you tonight; she and I are old playmates from the Webheads in Action foundation workshop back in 2002, and we have been collaborating often since then, exploring all kind of online communication, collaboration and learning tools and environments.

My old blog is at www.xanga.com/susnyropyours,
